So the idiot finally cleans out the gutters today ( he hasn't quite grasped the whole "houses need maintenance' thing) and after some mild nagging ( months), he borrows the neighbors ladder , ( because the one we have sucks, but he told me we didn't need a new one, even though the one we have I bought at a garage sale for 2 bucks and it is wooden and short and shakey, and I have to manage to paint the house with it, whatever!) and FIANALLY is going to clean the gutters.
He comes in after about an hour and rants about how bad the job is.
" The gutters have 3 inches of yuck in them!" They smell! It's like they haven't been cleaned in 3 years!!!!!!"

Last weekend he decided he was going to help me with laundry. He ran 5 loads of laundry, and dumps all of it on the sofa as it came out of the dryer. It took me 3 hours to sort and fold and hang and re-wash on Monday.

I suspect that he doesn't realise just how much work you do do, maybe you need to take the bairns away for a week or two.

Butt.head. I don't blame you one iota for being iritated.
I have a husband who is very lazy, so I feel your pain. The only thing I've found helps is making him lists. Of course, then when he doesn't do the list, it pisses me off even more.
I'm guilty of being the lazy one, unless it concerns cooking or gardening.
We try to split everything 50/50 but he is way more house proud than me.
I'll give him an extra hug tonight.
Ahh Bug... that can't be easy to deal with. Looks like you "won" the lottery with a hubby who doesn't have the same pride that you do in your house.
I'm fortunate to have gotten a lesson in life's skills from my parents who instilled in me a habit of cooking for the whole family starting when I was 11 and also to have one day a week to do the cleaning around the kitchen. As a result, I don't give it a second thought to do things around the house to keep the place tidy enough.
What if you suggested that you do things as a team? See if he's more willing to help out if you two make a sport of it -- i.e. one person folds and the other hangs while doing laundry, one person washes and the other person dries in the kitchen, one chops and the other mixes while cooking, etc? Pene and I try to do a lot of team-work while doing things around the house, keeps things more interesting that way.
Do you ever notice how when butthead manages to put a dish in the dishwasher he proclaims to you loudly that he HELPED YOU. Umm, how is cleaning up after yourself helping ME? I am not the maid!

I'm in to month two of re-housebreaking Rob. Unfortunately for him after living pretty much by myself for over a year I realise HE is the one that makes most of the messes. So we are having quite the time re-teaching him how to pick up after himself and turn off lights, ect. I plan on exacting my revenge of having to do more now that he is home when the lawncare stuff starts up next month!
Oh, and yes...he is a butthead. Sheesh.

I am Oscar Madison, and DH is Felix Unger. Not really, but he is fastidious, never throws his clothes around, and works hard around the house, and at work. As a matter of fact, I think I should be baking him a batch of his favorite oatmeal cookies right now. He's a keeper.
